About the Opportunity

Since we were founded more than 8 years ago, we’ve become known for building cool stuff. That expertise led to us being asked to create cool products like our Split Flap and Picture Flap displays, among other cool analog technologies.

This position is based in Philadelphia at Oat Foundry’s HQ. The key responsibility of this role is to manage new and existing customer accounts for Split Flap, Picture Flap, and future Oat Foundry analog technology product lines. An account manager is a key part of the customer journey and production fulfillment process for our product lines. This role will report to the President and will routinely interface with the Assembly Supervisor to ensure timely and accurate delivery of high-quality analog technology products.

Compensation and Employment Status

This position is full-time, at-will and comes with a salary and benefits including Health Care, 401(k), Training & Education Credits, Parental Leave, Profit Sharing, Unlimited PTO and more.

Responsibilities include:

    • Acting as the main point of contact for customers after a purchase order has been signed.
    • Generating and procuring custom artwork for analog technology products including, but not limited to pantone color palette, custom font artboards, and picture flap image artboards.
    • Identifying and obtaining approvals for customer-driven customizations and changes to existing purchase orders.
    • Scheduling, tracking and communicating anticipated and actual completion dates for fulfillment of purchase orders.
    • Scheduling, tracking, and allocating resources for installations of analog technology products.
    • Arranging national and international shipping and associated documentation for product delivery.
    • Respond to and proactively resolving technical issues and/or customer service calls associated with analog technology products.
    • Issuing and tracking customer invoices, including following up on past-due invoices.

Job Description

Oat Foundry is seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering Product Development team. This is a collaborative role on the Engineering team, working with Oat Foundry Innovation, Sales & Marketing, and Operations teams. This is a hands-on, in-person role responsible for designing, fabricating, and testing early- and late-stage product prototypes. In addition to internal products, this person will be responsible for executing tasks similar to the aforementioned to accomplish external client project initiatives.

Base Salary and Benefits

Reports to Project Manager at HQ – Philadelphia, PA

Responsibilities include:

    • Product and prototype development: design, fabrication, integration, testing, and documenting early- and late-stage product prototypes including mechanical, electrical and software components in support of product development activities.
    • Fixture development and support: ownership over a range of test fixtures and experimental apparatus, including those located at production facilities.
    • Performing engineering project tasks; developing, designing, and testing mechanical and software elements of client projects.
    • Writing technical reports, handbooks, and bulletins for use by customers and staff.
    • Estimating time and cost to complete projects.
    • Researching designs and making recommendations based on appearance, safety, budget, and function.

A successful candidate will have the following qualifications: 

    • CAD modeling, CAM programming and CNC fabrication
    • Electromechanical design

Assembly Technician

Job Description

This position is responsible for the assembly of Oat Foundry products, including but not limited to Split Flap and Picture Flap product lines. An assembly technician is part of an assembly team and will be required to work with others to meet production demands. The assembly team builds and prepares our products for our customers, ensuring utmost quality and timeliness. The position is a full-time salaried position paid semi-monthly, expected 40 hours per work week, Monday thru Friday.

Reports to Assembly Supervisor/President at HQ – Philadelphia, PA

Responsibilities include:

    • Follow SOPs and WKIs regarding facility cleanliness & hygiene and assembly operation efficacy
    • Ensure quality of all sub-assembly and final products
    • Identify issues and alert supervisor or engineering staff
    • Assembly of Oat Foundry product lines at various stages
      • Assembly and testing of stepper motors and printed circuit boards with use of hand tools while maintaining standards of electrostatic discharge prevention
      • Assembly of sheet metal panels with use of hand tools (rivet gun)
    • Maintain cleanliness of assembly area and general facility
    • Focus on activities that contribute to continuous improvement

A successful candidate will have the following qualifications: 

    • Experience with industry health and safety standards & hygiene best practices
    • Experience following direction
    • Experience working with a team to solve problems
    • High standards for quality and exceptional attention to detail
    • Hands-on assembly or fabrication experience
    • Highly organized with a focus on cleanliness
    • Use of tools (electric drill, pneumatic rivet gun, hand tools)
