With fully customizable Split Flap and Picture Flap displays, organizations can harness the power of interior branding, expressing their brand through the design elements that define a space. Custom typefaces, font and flap colors, logos, and icons can all be tailored to ensure the display fits seamlessly — both literally and figuratively — within your branded environment.
What is Interior Branding?
Interior branding is the practice of expressing a brand’s identity through the physical environment. It weaves brand values, personality, and story into the design elements of a space, such as color palettes, materials, typography, lighting, textures, and even spatial layout. The goal of interior branding is to create an atmosphere that feels unmistakably “on brand,” so that every visitor, guest, or employee experiences the organization’s culture and message the moment they enter.
Whether it’s a lobby that welcomes clients, a café that reflects a lifestyle, or a retail space that tells a product story, interior branding turns environments into living expressions of the brand itself, engaging people not just visually, but emotionally and experientially.
Interior Branding with a Custom Split Flap
A custom branded Split Flap display uses motion, sound, and tailored design elements such as custom colors, fonts, and logos to create a dynamic, multi-sensory experience. Julith Coffee in Dubai (pictured here, image courtesy of Julith) uses a cobalt blue Split Flap as the centerpiece of their minimal and modern coffee shop.
Here are all of the customization options for our Split Flap displays, which come in Classic Black, Modern White, and Enterprise Custom Color frames.

Interior Branding with a Custom Picture Flap
A custom-branded Picture Flap display brings storytelling to life through motion, sound, and vibrant imagery. Heritage Towers, as pictured here, uses a selection of logos and photos of iconic areas within local Lewisville, to foster a feeling of belonging with tenants. With your own brand artwork and graphics, a custom display can become the same kind of visually dynamic and multisensory expression. Our Picture Flap can use a range of elements to create a custom look and feel that matches the aesthetic of your brand, such as:
- Branding and logos
- Photos
- Text
- Textures

How Analog Tech “Fits” Into Interior Branding Projects
Analog tech can play a powerful and often unexpected role in interior branding. Our custom displays help brands bridge the draw of modern, minimal design with the engagement of experiential communication. The Starbucks Reserve in Mexico City uses a Split Flap display to rotate through their special blends — a departure from the static signage found at most of their locations. In our experience, designers often use Split Flap or Picture Flap displays for:
- Sports and School Heritage Walls
- Gallery and Statement Walls
- Bar, Restaurant, and Coffee Menus
- Lobby Signage and Welcome Messages
- Retail Collections
- Brand and Company Portfolios
- Interactive & Experiential Design
- Gamification at Tradeshows and Conferences
- Focal Points for Brand Values and Ethos
- Marketing Campaign Activations

Analog Tech for Interior Branding
Serves as Multisensory Decor
A custom Picture Flap became a living sports heritage wall for the Toronto Blue Jays. The Picture Flap uses high resolution imagery from some highlights from team history to create signage that moves and makes subtle (similar to a light rain) sound in a high-traffic space.
Adds Purpose to Static Spaces
Gallery and statement walls can be great for expressing brand identity though images, merchandise, artwork, and much more. When paired with a custom Split Flap or Picture Flap, this goes to the next level in terms of functionality and design. Here, Yeppa and Co., a cozy Italian eatery, uses their Split Flap as not just restaurant decor, but a moving series of messages and quotes for their customers.
Balances Innovation & Classic Design
Digital screens are no longer synonymous with luxury and style. Split Flaps and Picture Flaps help designers achieve the same style of innovation while leveraging classic design. As seen at Artisan Beer and Cheese outside of Raleigh, North Carolina, a Split Flap is used in the place of static or digital signage for a sleek, modern look.
Aligns with Sustainable Design Goals
A custom Picture Flap or Split Flap also helps brands reflect their core values, which for many companies, now includes a pledge for sustainable practices. The Picture Flap at Best Friends Pet Resource Center, for instance, rotates through the same messaging and images that could be displayed on a screen, but draws minimal power.
Alternative to Digital Display and Screens
In some spaces, digital is being swapped out at an increasing pace, with brands returning to traditional signage for minimal screen time. Picture Flap or Split Flap is an optimal solution for digital-free spaces, as shown in the luxury retail store The Citizen by Klutch. Paired with our companion technology to Split Flap, Algorithm, users can also be interactive with the display, rotating through various cannabis blends.
Blends With Any Interior Style
Our Split Flaps and Picture Flaps have been customized to a range of spaces in varied interior styles. From modern to industrial to vintage to luxury, the ability to color match and/or blend your display into shelving, walls, displays, menus, or from ceilings give designers a lot of room to play. As seen at Erosion Wine Bar, who color matched to a metallic gold, the minimal aesthetic of a Split Flap, timeless in it’s design, can truly fit any occasion.
Supports Heritage Architecture & Design
Split Flap displays enhance the architectural integrity of historic spaces, with mechanical charm, soft sound, and vintage-inspired typography that aligns with the visual language of early 20th-century buildings. Unlike digital screens or LED signage that can feel out of place, a Split Flap board integrates seamlessly without overwhelming historic finishes. Our displays can also be installed with minimal structural intervention and customized to match existing motifs, preserving the authenticity of a heritage building while adding a functional, modern storytelling element.
Displays Can Move & Evolve With Your Brand
Our analog displays can be relocated and reused if needed, making them a flexible option for spaces. Their modular design and range of sizes allow the boards to translate easily between spaces without compromising visual balance. This adaptability ensures the signage continues to feel intentional and appropriately scaled, even if the space evolves.
Saves Space & Reduces Visual Clutter
Split Flap and Picture Flap displays are natural space savers, cycling through multiple messages or images within a single compact fixture. By replacing numerous static signs, artwork or message boards, they reduce visual clutter and maintain a clean, intentional interior. Their ability to present rotating content without additional wall fixtures keeps spaces alike organized, efficient, and mindfully designed.
Interior Branding Examples
Julith Coffee
7 Rows x 32 Columns in Enterprise Custom Color
At Julith Coffee in Dubai, every aspect of the interior is crafted to express the brand’s mastery of coffee, culture, and design. Mounted directly onto a smooth concrete wall, the custom Split Flap display appears to float slightly from the surface, its flush, bracketed mounting system cleverly concealing hardware and power connections to preserve a seamless architectural integration.
Encased in the brand’s cobalt-blue signature hue, the display creates a vivid visual contrast that draws attention as it cycles through curated menus, affirmations and messages. The kinetic feature forms a centerpiece of the brand, helping every guest feel connected to Julith’s ethos of craft, community, and creative exploration. Brand images courtesy of Julith Coffee.
University of Arizona
5 Rows x 7 Columns Picture Flap
At the University of Arizona’s Scottsdale Center, every design element works to express the institution’s spirit. Through a topography wall, layered graphics, custom terrazzo flooring, and refined, minimal signage, the space transforms the university’s values into a tangible experience. At the center of the space, a custom Picture Flap display anchors the central statement wall, with its analog motion and tactile rhythm introducing life and movement into the environment. Set against crisp white walls and a geometric wood ceiling, the display cycles through imagery and messages that embody the university’s ethos and energizing call to wonder: “Wonder Makes Us Arizona.” More than décor, the Picture Flap and surrounding architectural details work together to help every current or prospective student feel like part of the story. Ralph Lauren
9 Row x 7 Column Display with Navy Blue Sheet Metal Casing
For the launch of the Olympic Collection, the Ralph Lauren brand introduced a custom Picture Flap display as a key focal point at their flagship on Fifth Ave in New York. Framed by a handcrafted SkyFrame surround finished in crisp white, the display blends seamlessly with the store’s elegant architecture, ornate chandeliers, curved staircases, and refined millwork. Within this sophisticated setting, the Picture Flap adds a bold, kinetic element that contrasts beautifully with the classic interior.
New York or Nowhere
6 Rows x 24 Column in Classic Black
Set in the heart of Nolita, New York or Nowhere is a boutique retail destination that embodies its city’s creative spirit through thoughtful interior branding. Every element of the space, from exposed brick and a tin ceiling to the artfully arranged floating shelves, tells a story of classic New York sophistication. At the register, a custom Split Flap display anchors the experience, serving as both a functional message board and a dynamic brand statement.

A Style for Every Space
Recessed Installations
Built directly into walls or custom millwork, recessed installations offer a seamless, architectural look. The display sits flush with surrounding surfaces for a clean, modern finish that feels like a natural part of the space. This works well for lobbies and offices, as well as for custom bar installations, as shown in The Irish Exit example above.
Surface-Mounted Installations
Our most flexible option, surface-mounted displays can be installed directly on nearly any wall type. Ideal for retrofits or spaces with limited depth, this approach highlights the display as a standalone design feature. As pictured with the colorful Crust & Crumb cafe menu, surface-mounted installations are great for restaurants and bars, retail locations, coffee shops, and more.
Ceiling-Mounted Installations
Suspended from the ceiling, these installations make a striking statement in open spaces such as lobbies, atriums, and retail environments. They draw the eye upward and create a dynamic focal point visible from multiple angles. This versatile and interesting style, as shown in this Dara Vandor Search Portrait exhibit, is a great fit for galleries and museums.
Freestanding Installations
When walls aren’t available or mobility is key, a freestanding Split Flap provides flexibility. These can be built into custom enclosures or stands to move where the action is, perfect for events, exhibitions, or pop-up activations. This experiential marketing activation, held at Grand Central Station in New York, was a versatile and fun way to draw attention to Palm Beach’s flights from JFK.
L-Shaped Installations
We can build Split Flaps around coffee or cocktail bars, creating a one-of-a-kind architectural feature to drive focus and attention to your menu. This particular cafe menu, located on campus at Samsung near Kings Cross in London, is a great example of experiential design in action.
Custom Installations
From angled mounts to curved surfaces, we tailor installations to meet your design intent, as seen at the LA Philharmonic.
