When it comes to luxury dress shirts, there are few names as prestigious as London-based Thomas Pink. Since 1984, the shirtmaker has been crafting bespoke shirts for customers such as John F. Kennedy Jr. and Hugh Grant. Just 15 years after opening the doors of their first store in London, Thomas Pink joined the LVMH family – making the name synonymous with luxury.
While revamping their Terminal 5 London Heathrow location, Bradley Taylor, the lead designer, looked to stray from the norm and incorporate the glamour of international travel. With stores such as Dior, Chanel, and more, standing out in Heathrow is no easy task. To stand out while matching the travel theme, the team decided to include a Split Flap encased in brass with their branded font and prominent pink color to tie in that travel theme. While other stores may capture the senses of smell and sight – no other luxury store in Heathrow can compete with how Thomas Pink captivates the sense of sound.
“There are luxury stores, but they are just that – a retail store. Chanel’s, Dior… etc. Beautiful but they are normal. We wanted to challenge that with an element that was a real nod to the old travel, even the better part of travel.” Bradley Taylor, Architecture & VM Director, LVMH
