Sheridan was once the last stop on the great Burlington railroad – a line that carried millions of passengers from Chicago to the west. The train station was a gorgeous red brick building, once called the center of the community as those coming and going stepped through its columned entryway.
The building remained vacant for some years until Stephanie Rose Stalker, a branding whiz working for giants such as Yahoo! & Hasbro, came back to her hometown with a vision to reconnect the community with the station.
The building had wonderful bones so it was labeled as a restoration project. The trim molding, window casings, original terrazzo flooring, and white brick walls all needed to be restored to their former glory. Among the new additions to the station is a Split Flap display with the Hall’s braided colors. The display rotates through welcome messages, event times, and more.
Since opening, the vision for Welcome Market Hall has been realized. It has become a curated mix of food concepts, modern neighborhood bar, coffee shop, lounge, and engaging programming welcome visitors and locals alike to eat, drink, and celebrate under one historically significant roof.
