“We Vote” Art Contest

Calling all Philadelphia Artists!
We Vote is a civic collaboration and art competition hosted by Oat Foundry and Committee of Seventy. A Picture Flap display will be placed in Fishtown Philadelphia for three weeks before the presidential election. Artists, please submit designs on this web page using the Submit button below. A panel of 5 judges will select the winners. The winners’ art will be physically printed and put on display. Every artist that is selected to be printed on the display will receive a cash prize for their effort (25 total will be selected, one submission per artist)

Results: September September 14, 2020
Prizes: Every one of the 25 artists selected will receive $100. The top 5 submissions ranked by the public will receive $250.

Printed on Picture Flap

The Oat Foundry Picture Flap is an image-based take on the flappy boards that used to be in 30th Street Station. It is made up of 12″ x 12″ modules that contain 30 individual images. The modules work together to form one large image across any size display. Much like those old school Split Flap displays, it physically flips through images that are split into two parts. The end result is an eye-catching way to display high-quality photos and designs.

On Display in Fishtown, Philadelphia

Starting on 10/12/20 your art will be shown on a Picture Flap Display installed in La Colombe Coffee Roasters Fishtown location. The display will rotate through the 25 art submissions that were selected. As guests stop by to appreciate the artwork, they can go on the web to cast a vote for their favorite. They will also be able to check out links about voter education in the city of Philadelphia. Photo: Kelly Giarrocco

In Partnership with Committee of Seventy

The We Vote Art Contest is in collaboration with the Committee of Seventy. They are a nonpartisan civic leadership organization that advances representative, ethical and effective government in Philadelphia and Pennsylvania through citizen engagement and public policy advocacy. Help Beyond the Art!

There are many ways to support voter education and do your part beyond We Vote. The City of Philadelphia needs volunteers to help at polling stations. If you would like to learn more about becoming a volunteer for your local polling station, click the image! This is also a great source of information to find the polling station nearest to you.

Specs for Submitting Art

The Picture Flap your art will be printed on is 3′ h x 3′ w. It is made up of 9 individual modules that are each 12″ h x 12″ w. We cannot accept low quality or undersized art so please abide by the following.

Must be CMYK color profile for printing
Must be 150 DPI
Max file size 100mb

File type

SVG is preferred
PNG is accepted

Hand Drawn Submissions

Please use a high-quality scan or picture to digitize your work. RAW or PNG are acceptable

Judging completed and select artists announced

The Picture Flap will be on display at La Colombe in Fishtown

10/12-11/2

Display is running and viewers can vote for their favorite online

The display is removed and winners of public voting are announced
